Hero Mavrick 440

Hero MotoCorp is a globally recognized leader in the two-wheeler industry, distinguished by its unwavering dedication to innovation, affordability, and quality. Formerly known as Hero Honda, it was one of the first companies in the Indian motorbike segment when it was founded in 1984. Hero MotoCorp has become a household name not just in India but also in a number of other markets thanks to its wide range of bikes and scooters that cater to various market groups. However, Hero couldn’t achieve the same popularity status in the Premium Bike segments.

Nonetheless, Hero MotoCorp experienced an enormous change in last year as it boldly entered increasingly niche and expensive markets. The most significant announcement was made by Harley-Davidson and the two manufacturers together last year with the X440, a sub 500cc motorcycle. Hero’s version of the motorbike has just arrived. The Hero Mavrick 440 represents the brand’s entry into the high-end motorcycle market. Hero’s newest and most potent motorcycle, the Mavrick, is expected to be a torque-loving monster.

Design Elegance

Is there any similarity between the Harley X440 and Hero Mavrick 440? Yes, you guessed it right—the Hero Maverick and the Harley-Davidson X440 are both based on the same architecture. The Harley and Mavrick were co-developed, with the former being a classic cruiser and the latter a modern roadster. The two motorcycles don’t aesthetically resemble one another. The Mavrick has a more contemporary appearance with angular lines all around. The massive fuel tank adds an aesthetic stance, and the circular LED headlight with the iconic LED DRL appears fantastic.

Compared to the X440, the Mavrick has a shorter wheelbase and a more inward-facing and upright rake. In contrast to the X440’s relaxed riding position, the steeper rake angle guarantees a livelier ride. The Mavrick 440’s fit, finish, and entire build standard are all excellent. Everything about it, including the shut lines, paint job, and welds, seems high-end.

Except for the attachment possibilities for engine covers and additional accessories, the mainframe is unchanged, while the rear chassis has been updated with twin tubular components. Hero’s design of the tail section is superior to what people recall from the Harley Davidson X440. The Mavrick’s rear blends more smoothly than that of its twin X440.

In terms of visuals, the Top model is available in two colors: Matte Phantom Black and Glossy Enigma Black. The Mid models have two colors to choose from: Celestial Blue & Fearless Red, whereas the Base model is only available in Arctic White. 3D Badging of ‘Mavrick’ is applied to the petrol tank of the Top model.

Engine Performance

The air and oil-cooled, single-cylinder, 440 cc engine of Mavrick 440 is identical to the X440, although its tuning has been slightly altered. Maximum torque of 36 Nm is produced at 4000 rpm, while the engine produces 27 horsepower at 6000 rpm. As early as 2000 rpm, according to Hero Motocorp, 90% of the torque becomes accessible. Because of the engine’s exceptional tractability, riders will appreciate the bike’s lower and mid-range performance. It’s possible to ride the bike easily even at 43 kmph in top gear. In simple words, a bike that is friendly to torque is the Hero Maverick 440.

As per expert reports, while riding on the highway, the Mavrick 440 performs best at speeds of 80 kmph, at roughly 4000 rpm. The NVH levels on the bike tend to increase harder when it is pushed a little further. Around the handlebar & foot pegs, vibrations begin to appear above 5000 rpm.

Riding Experience

The Mavrick 440 offers an extremely comfortable riding position with its straight broad handlebar, pleasant brake and gear lever locations, and a seating position that is somewhat forward of it. The seat’s perfect balance of firmness and softness goes well with this easygoing straight-up riding position. Riders can ride the bike all day without feeling exhausted thanks to its upright seat and riding ergonomics.

However, it is felt that the Maverick’s suspension system is a little underwhelming considering how much Hero stresses about comfort. Hero claims that the motorcycle’s usage of dual shock absorbers featuring a 7-step adjustment in the back and telescopic forks up front was done to give it a more robust appearance that its customers find appealing. Although the suspension setup boasts 130 mm of movement on both ends, it remains stiff when facing humphs. The majority of potholes migrate to the rider’s back when they hit a rough patch. A more smooth ride would undoubtedly enhance the bike’s touring capabilities. The rear suspension may have been adjusted more precisely.

Hero Mavrick 440

The Mavrick 440 is dependable around curves and requires little effort to corner. Even with a kerb weight of 187 kg, it just makes the motorbike easier to handle and more effortless. Braking ability of Mavrick 440 is quite decent. Both front and rear disc brakes operates well and provides good bite.

The control switches are arranged in a handy manner, yet their only purpose is to activate the engine, turn on the lights, and sound the horn. Although the clutch and gear levers cannot be adjusted, they are comfortable to use.

Wind-blast is the one situation where people might have trouble riding the bike. At greater speeds, one might experience some wind blasts due to the bike’s very modest height.
