According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2024, there are currently 3,279 billionaires worldwide, with 167 more added in the preceding year. China leads the world in the number of billionaires (814), with the US coming in second with 800 and India third. Indian Billionaires

According to a report, India has added about 100 billionaires in a very successful year. Record levels of confidence were reached in the economy. Based on the research, the city of Mumbai surpassed Beijing, China to claim the title of the capital of billionaires in Asia (a first for the Hurun list) and one of the top three cities worldwide. New Delhi, the capital of India, made its maiden appearance among the top 10 cities for billionaires.

Energy and pharmaceuticals are the two industries propelling Mumbai’s wealth boom; corporate magnates such as Mukesh Ambani have reaped significant rewards from both sectors. Real estate tycoon Mangal Prabhat Lodha & his family saw the biggest percentage gain in wealth within Mumbai’s billionaire affluent, rising to 116%.

Much of the credit for Mukesh Ambani’s continued success at the 10th spot goes to Reliance Industries. Gautam Adani has surged eight places to the 15th rank, driven by an extraordinary increase in fortune.
Dilip Shanghvi and Kumar Mangalam Birla of Sun Pharmaceuticals also made significant contributions to the vibrant group of Indian billionaires.

Moving up 16 spots to 34 in the world’s wealth rankings, Shiv Nadar and family of HCL also had a big increase. Cyrus S. Poonawalla of Serum Institute, on the other hand, fell nine spots to rank 55th with $82 billion in total fortune.
In the meantime, the success of D-Mart has contributed to Radhakishan Damani’s consistent wealth rise, which has also helped him move up eight spots to rank 100 globally and illustrate how India’s billionaire scene is changing.

Elon Musk

Thanks to a spike in Tesla’s shares, Elon Musk has risen to the top of the global wealth rankings once more. According to the survey, Francoise Bettencourt Meyers of L’Oreal and the late Bertrand Puech of Hermes lost their places in the top 10 this year to Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Page.

The report also noted that Taylor Swift, an accomplished musician, became the first person to become a billionaire, bringing in US$1.2 billion – not from typical celebrity businesses but exclusively through her music. Royalties and touring account for more than half of her wealth; the first leg of the Eras tour brought in US$190 million, while the concert video brought in US$35 million. The worth of her record collection supports the remainder, especially in light of the fact that her first six albums were sold to Shamrock Capital in 2020 for US$300 million – the statement explained.
